Gus Johnson Is My Hero

Gus Johnson, how do I even begin to describe him? He has single-handedly kept me interested in games that I have no business watching. He can make a meaningless Week 1 matchup between the Broncos and Bengals become the most exciting/talked about ending of the entire season.

Seriously, I am 100% sure he just orgasmed. He left the broadcast booth after the clip ended and had a smoke. Granted, the play itself was pretty amazing, but Gus takes it to another level. Could you imagine Gus calling Jordan over Ehlo? The Immaculate Reception? Montana to Clark? Nick The Brick/Kenny Smith 3 to tie in Game 1 of the 1995 NBA Finals? Gus Johnson is the english equivalent of a Spanish Soccer Announcer on Telemundo. His calls draw you into the game it's almost as if you suddenly became a "lifelong fan" of the team playing. (more on Lifelong fan in a minute) In the mean time, check out some great examples of "Gusgasms" on YouTube.

Coco on Tour - Buy your tickets now! NOW! (Now with more Austin!)

http://teamcoco.com/

I bought my 4 tickets in Dallas. Go go Team Coco.

Edit: And now I have tickets for the Austin show...anyone want to buy tickets for the Dallas show? (Someone jumped the gun)

Planning out my next vacation

...while I haven't even started the vacation I already planned before. Even if it's entirely possible that I may not have a job, I figure I'm going to start buying/paying for everything now, and at worst, by then I'll broke, have to move back in with my dad, but have a full trip paid for 6 months in advance!

Been throwing around the idea of going to a bunch of MLB stadiums over a period of 3-5 years, more specifically, trying to hit all 30 stadiums in the span of 3 years, but if it takes 4-5, so be it.

The Grouch and Eligh - All In

MLB The Show has generally been kinda hit and miss with their soundtracks, but the newest version (MLB 10: The Show) has one song that's kinda growing on me. The rest aren't much to write home about. Check it out:

Why don't more places have frozen lemonade?!

Seriously.

So I go to Bullritos today for lunch. and as I'm ordering I see the list of drinks, I see, frozen lemonade on the menu. Wha? People still sell this? Last time I had frozen lemonade was like... 8 years ago when I went to Bambolino's Pizza, one of my favorite pizza places when I was a kid. Now, it's like the stuff doesn't exist anywhere. Is there some shortage of frozen lemons? Not enough ade available? Is Pepsi and Coca-Cola buying up all the ade available and forcing a frozen lemonade shortage across the US?

I’m with Coco

Conan O'Brien I'm With Coco image So for the past few weeks, I’ve found myself watching Man v Food reruns, SPORTSCENTER (when was the last time that happened?), and whatever random crap is on at 10:35 central. I will continue to watch this, or movies, maybe start going to the gym at that time. Actually that’s probably the best bet. Do something productive.

The absense of Coco in my TV lineup is something that hasn’t happened too regularly, except for the period between Conan giving Fallon the Late Show, and preparing for the Tonight Show. While in the past, The Late Show with Conan O’Brien was on the air at 2:40am in Houston, I would stay up then to watch it, and then followed it when it finally moved to it’s 11:35 central time slot here. Normally around the time the news/Tonight Show was on, I had them on the background while I was doing homework and hope that I finished by the time The Late Show came on. If not, the homework got set aside until later that night, or in the morning right before class. I had my priorities, mock them all you want.

When work takes over your life…

As I sit for what will be inevitably the 24th hour of work this weekend, I have to wonder, wtf am I doing with my life. I just gave up an entire weekend to babysit two technicians that are setting up the phone system at work. While I’ll probably stop complaining in 2 weeks when I get my check, I had things around the apartment I needed to get done this weekend. I got up saturday morning and thought, “ok, I’ll go in, they’ll be done in 4-5 hours, and I’ll go home, do laundry, clean up, fix some things I’ve needed to get done for a few weeks”

False Alarm

Let’s just say one of my previous posts was me jumping the gun a little bit. But with the news I heard, it seemed like an inevitability. Oh well. Life doesn’t look so grim now. Mini update completed.

I Am A Sports Radio Nerd

image Anyone that has known me for more than a few weeks can pretty much tell you that I listen to sports radio from time to time. Those that have known me for the past 11 years, will tell you that I may be a bit on the obsessive side.

The tale of my sports radio nerdery begins back in the days of yore… or, actually, back in my high school days. My best friend at the time, would listen to Sports Radio 610 in the mornings in his truck. He would get there early, and just sit around in his truck as he was driving to school in his dad’s old truck. Being that we were both huge sports fanatics, I would go hop in his truck for 10-15 minutes, listen to whatever the topic was, and then have something to argue about the rest of the day. This was my introduction to John Granato and Lance Zierlein, nearly 11 years ago, back in 1999.
